I think that social media has become a huge part of our everyday communication. This is why I want to use it to raise awareness on a topic I really care about:
Last summer I decided to pick the trash and the cigarettes up, that people left on the beach and putting them in the trash can - where they belong!
As soon as I started walking around and picking things up, everyone started staring at me and I immediately felt very uncomfortable. So I wonder, why is it normal seeing someone leaving their cigarettes, trash (and so on) on the beach, but weird seeing someone picking it up? What is wrong with society? That day I even saw a man throwing his baby's diapers in the Ocean and while everyone was watching, no one said anything. Why are we acting like this? We know that our kids look up to us.
And I know that this might sounds overdramatic, because I am talking about some cigarettes that are left on the beach..but it's not. This trash goes into our Ocean. The birds and the sea mammals ingest these toxic butts, misinterpreting them for food. And about the fact that these kids won't know the problem and the results of this action...
Please - be a part of the solution, not of the problem. Make this earth a better place.
Love,
Naike
